The first aluminum cast rear frame around a central metal tube appears. With the 422, the 423S is the first Zündapp, manufactured in series, which is supplied with a strong central steel frame tube, which was pressed under pressure into an aluminum rear frame. This production method would remain the trademark of Zündapp for decades. These frames appear to be more stable and lighter than the usual metal tube frames or cradle frames.
