This 48cc two-stroke Zündapp engine is in the Apollo, Mustang, Rex, Typhoon, Mosquito and the original German mopeds Zündapp Combinette and TWN Knirps. There were 2 types of Zundapp cubes. The KM 48 and this slightly more powerful KM 50. The KM48 was introduced in 1953 and the KM50 in 1954 and were mounted in a Typhoon bicycle from A. KNIBBE from Amsterdam. No type approval for mopeds, this only came in 1958.
